My son starting LSU this Fall and will be commuting from home. He has one class that starts at 7:30am. Any tips or advice as far as which lots are better to park, should he go Burbank or Interstate to get to campus, what are best places to get books?

Also for LSU football tickets as a Freshman, how does that process work?

He'd better leave the house at 5:30 or hope the professor doesn't take roll.

Drop the 730 class. He'll never be on time, never go, and get a F

Agreed. I was going to give him real tips, then I realized this kid is a sheltered momma's boy.

I assume he will start living on a friends couch pretty early on just to get away from the rents. And rents, let him. He needs to experience college away from you.

Where he parks and what time he should arrive really depends on where the class is located.

Huh? I took 7:30 classes my entire time there and might have missed 2 classes ever.

And I woke up next to the railroad tracks between tiger land and Beau Chene many many time.

He'll probably need to leave home an hour early. That way he can avoid the morning traffic for the 730 class.

Tip number one: between now and start of school find him a different place to live. Preferably a dorm with other college students. No one should live at home during college.

Tip number two: don't be a bitch about curfew or staying out and sleeping at friends houses if you're forcing him to live at home.

If you've raised him right up to this point he'll generally make the right decisions. you have to trust him and give him room to live. Which will be difficult since he lives at home, but you have to do it.

Tip number three: let him be a college kid. Let him make mistakes. Let him learn how to do shite on his own. If you baby him and force him to go to class and you stay on top of him everyday and make sure he's doing what he's supposed to, he'll never learn to do those things on his own. That's the most important lesson in life, making mistakes, learning from them, and learning independence

Getting to 7:30 class is much easier than a 9am class. I think he has no trouble on getting on interstate and driving. I'm guessing he will be getting a commuter pass so he can park in any of the lots close to class.

Live in a coed dorm. The "new" Graham maybe? Herget. I was in Kirby Smith and it was Hell.

Oh. God damn that sucks. But hey, less loans. Just don't be a dick about curfew.

Any tips or advice as far as which lots are better to park

Too many variables. Going to the Quad, Kirby Smith lot or Stadium lot. Going to Taylor, the lots on that side of campus.

I would've never made it to that class as a stupid freshmen, but I would strangle several people to be able to start my day walking from the stadium lot to the Quad with a coffee at 7:15. Listening to the bird chirping, watching the fog lifting on Mike's cage. The real world is awful.

I had a psychology professor that took roll call for a 7:30AM M-F class when I was a freshman at ASU. That was the most terrible idea ever. 1 second late 5 times, and then dreading every single morning thereafter to avoid getting a letter grade drop. Otherwise, I hope he has fun for the next 3-? years!

His folks might want to invest in getting him a parking garage pass.

Not as much as an $11,000 housing bill each year for four years. Or five years.
