I don't wear ugly plain regular jewelry

Why wouldn't I want the ring I'm going to wear every day for the rest of my life to be beautiful to look at?

You cheap frick

Come to a decision as a couple and do what work for you two. There's no reason to involve anyone else, especially us random fricktards on the Internet.

That is not the opinion of most women. Women like jewelry and shiny things since long ago.

And the waste of money...you could turn around and say the same thing about other things as well.

My wife wears a plain band at at work all week. She's a nurse and puts on/takes off gloves all day.

Plus its just a classy thing to do when you're dealing with patients that come from such modest backgrounds. They don't need to see her diamond ring in their face.

Which would you choose?

a) $15k diamond ring
b) $500 CZ ring that looks identical to a $15k diamond ring + $14,500 cash(to do with what you will)

girls want diamonds because everyone else has them. I can understand their reasoning about not looking cheap in front of their friends, but it is an entirely illogical and impractical trend.

My wedding and engagement ring are soldered together. But they sit really low because I knew I would be wearing it to work. Also...it's a more dainty setting and isn't some massive rock...so it doesn't come off as vulgar to my patients.

Majority of the married nurses I've known and worked with wear their complete wedding set. Very few just wear the wedding band.

Correct.

So when a guy gets a ring for a girl because they love each other and want to spend the rest of their lives together, the girl has the right and audacity to say "wow what a cheap and ugly ring." Just seems like the wrong thing to be focused on. I think the female perspective changes if you're ever exposed to a guy who has money and does well for himself. It turns from a case of him doing the best he can as he's short on cash to wow what a cheap a-hole I know he could afford more. Maybe I'm the only one who sees this disconnect? You don't need to spend more money simply because you have more money

That's more than I'd want spent

I'd say CZ would be fine. My mom's ring actually came with CZ as the main stone because they had to order the diamond. She waited a long time though to do it because she didn't care

But I love my diamond earrings so much. My sister was like "wtf what a waste of money. I got these 5 ct CZ studs for 4.99"

My wedding band was more expensive than my wife's. Her engagement ring was just way more expensive than the other two combined

Majority of married nurses I've known don't care enough about the wedding vows to pay attention to the ring for very long. The ones who married Dr Right aren't nurses any more anyway.
