Does anyone actually think "cures" will reach the market of the masses?

quote:

U.S. health care spending grew 4.3 percent in 2016, reaching $3.3 trillion or $10,348 per person. As a share of the nation's Gross Domestic Product, health spending accounted for 17.9 percent.

I mean I like to think people are usually "good" by nature, but that's a lot of coin that gives incentives to treat "symptoms" rather than the cause. That shite isn't going to change.

Big pharma and the medical cancer sector will not allow this to happen

You and everyone else who thinks this are absolute fricking idiots.

Let me ask you something. If you have cancer and somebody walks up and says "You can spend $200,000 on the treatments that all the other companies can give you that might work or you can pay me $300,000 and be cured," which one will you pick?

Guess how many cancer treatment drugs disappear overnight if that ever happens because nobody wants them while one company that has the cure makes billions of dollars. shite, that company would probably end up being the first trillion dollar company. Do you honestly think the company that has the cure wouldn't put their competition out of business the instant they could? Drugs have 20 year patents. Do you have any clue how much money the company that comes up with the cure for cancer can make in 20 years before that shite becomes generic? Even if half the patent gets eaten up by development time (The patent starts ticking when it's invented, not when it clears all of the trials) so they can sell it for only 10 years before it can be copied, they'd make a fortune. The FDA would fast track anything that works because the company that has the cure could literally sell it in any third world shithole that allows it if the FDA refused to approve it; people would fly to Liberia and let some untrained, unwashed ten year old inject them with the cure if they couldn't get it in their own country. There's no fricking way "they" could block it. It's worth too much. And if it only cost $100,000 (it'll cost at least what a typical course of cancer treatment costs) and only 10% of the 8,000,000 people who die every year from cancer can afford it and the company that comes up with it only has 10 years to capitalize before it becomes generic, it will STILL stand to make around 800 billion dollars before the patent runs out. Before you make the claim that the other drug companies would play dirty to keep the cure from coming out, the company with it has WAY more interest in playing dirtier to make sure it gets released. If it costs them 400 billion to play dirtier than everyone else, they would still have 400 billion in cash at the end. frick, the insurance companies alone will demand that the cure be used over any other treatment because it'll be cheaper than what they're paying now.

Make no mistake, the company that comes up with it the cure will instantly put it on the market.

A girl I’m dating is getting her PhD in microbiology at UC Santa Barbara and she sent me something a few weeks ago that she’s working on where she’s cloning viruses that only attack cancer cells. She explained it to me in idiot terms but we’re REALLY close to a cure. I might even keep smoking.

Isn’t there a cure in Brazil that’s a 4 month prescription for like 600USD a month?
