This also brings into light the possible reason for the "us vs them" attitude". There aren't any songs that say "Frick the Electrician", "Frick the Pharmacist", etc etc
We're just chasing our tails at this point because I can tell you it's because electricians and pharmacists don't use their job to kill people on occasion and if they did (I guess a pharmacist intentionally giving someone bad medicine) they are arrested and charged.
One thing that will help the police is to move a step or two away from handling their bad cops not a lot different than the Catholic church handles their bad priests. The good ones in each profession far outweigh the bad ones, but when there are bad ones, the good ones have to stop circling the wagons to protect the bad ones or else they are liable to be lumped in with the bad ones as well.

Since last night's events were pretty calm you think tonight is going to be wild again? How long can they continue these shenanigans?

There isn't a good central clearinghouse of officer-involved shootings. For the year 2011, there were ~1100 people shot by police, 607 fatally.
I just quoted an article, but I believe those are correct for 2012 since it's based on FBI. I would think they were reliable, but not sure about your guy who did his own internet research.

Saying that it doesn't happen in 99.9% of incidences is a specious argument. If that's a valid argument, then let's discuss how often police are shot and if they have a reason to be fearful of it based on percentages
That would work if the only weapon used against them were a gun. I'm pretty sure that isnt the case, so like you wanting to compare the two shootings as similar, that would be flawed.

As an African American, I find this whole event very disgusting.
You are like many of the black people I have had the privilege to have been associated with over the years and one of the reasons I try to not make fun of the profile. So many don't fit the profile and I applaud them.
I suspect many in the community are good people. Sadly, if I'm right, they are the silent majority or the ones that were part of a peaceful protest.

here's what I can't figure out: if the cop had the shite beat out of him,
He did not have

Since it wasn't visible in the video afterward and, obviously, he could perform his duties shortly after the hit only the medical report will indicate how serious it was.
the shite beat out of him

Don't disagree with that either. Nor with white people who protect their thugs when they commit crimes.

So let me restate -- 12 million arrests a year, 400 fatal shootings, many of them justified.
Extremely good information.

I fail to see how this is relevant. Are we supposed to shoot popo in equal numbers just to keep it fair?
