Oh, I agree whole heartedly that their is no need to point a weapon at a citizen, unless you are fixing to shoot him. Every one of the ones caught pointing a gun should be fired.

I do think they need more gear than past generations, the nature of the criminal element has changed, they are more heavily armed. So I don't mind them having the hardware, it just needs to be deployed with more discipline and awareness.

I agree.

2 issues. Was the cop shooting the kid justified. The police response was to show up in tanks, riot gear and tear gas.

Agreed, also some of the protester's actions like looting is an issue as well. As with any protest it seems like it quickly goes away from the issue and the protestors make it about themselves which causes us to overlook what started this in the first place

So you're telling me that ALL of the officers on top of the carriers and carrying ARs that were photographed pointing weapons at protestors were loaded with rubber bullets?

I don't know, did you hear otherwise? Still don't think they should have and they were obviously trying to intimidate.

I am bout to lose my stuff on stupid white kids on twitter. Does our education system not teach a basic civic's class anymore?

Here's an idea arrest the cop who killed Michael Brown and then maybe just maybe there wouldn't be so much rioting #ThisIsNonsense #Ferguson

I'm not saying it makes it right, but I do feel bad for the actual guys that were there on the ground. They were only doing what their bosses told them to do and in the context of a society that apparently allows it to exist. While I think those guys all need re-training, my bigger gripe is with the decision makers higher up that gave those guys those orders or bought that equipment.

Violates ROE in the military... So our military isn't allowed to point a weapon at non citizens in war torn areas, but local cops playing war are allowed to point them at American Citizens

You are unquestionably and completely wrong. No offense meant but I just want to be clear.

Which WILL NOT matter in the end. Either way there will be more riots to come.

Think about it. If it is found that the cop WAS justified or WAS NOT justified- get ready.

Agreed about the looters. I was only trying to clear up his confusion about how the shooting and the militarization are actually 2 different things. Cop didn't roll up on Brown in a tank.

That's for "live" ammo, I haven't heard anything about rubber bullets or bean bags, etc.

bullshite. You don't point a gun at a citizen or anyone unless you are in jeopardy. The peaceful protestor or dude just walking to work don't know what is in the chamber. At the bare minimum there needs to be a threat that warrants an arrest if a gun is pointed.

I don't see the harm in cops having better protection and modern non lethal weapons. Would you rather see some heads getting cracked open with clubs!?! Or a little tear gas?

If you had a son that was a police officer. An agnry mob looking for revenge turns on him and starts shooting, throwing rocks, bottles, firebombs. Would you rather he have the best protection available or a shield and fricking club?

The white community leaves because the schools fail. The houses are vacant and become Section 8. More white people leave (and black people who can or who can't afford private school). Repeat 5 miles out from center of STL. Wonder what happened every 10 years.
