Many of those "other" children's hospitals do not have the research capabilities of STJ. Most are in the TREATMENT business not RESEARCH. Meaning they have no goals of developing new medicines and treatment protocols that may prevent a child from enduring what today's cancer kids have to endure

the couple of posters in this thread who had kids treated at STJ really need to see what everyone is talking about. Nobody is advocating kids with cancer go without treatment. They're saying if STJ wants to turn down free money for kids with cancer then there are other viable organizations who will gladly take it.
Organizations that treat kids with cancer.
What's the big deal if people are offended by their SJW bullshite to the point where they want to send their donations elsewhere?

Am I wrong or is it not 4.5 million over 40 years?

Exactly, I am going to post this link again for anyone looking for another Children's hospital to support. LINK
St. Jude has the most expensive marketing campaign but certianly are not the only game in town.

You ask why we would call out an organization for this if they've done so much good over the last 50 years - maybe it's because we want them to continue doing good work over the next 50 and not succumb to the destruction that comes with being a SJW.
no no no...Please don't get me wrong...CALL THEM OUT...just dont stop supporting...that's all I'm asking
Odds are this was some young person at STJ acting without proper guidance

STJ may have made a mistake here but haven't we all made mistakes in life? Why are you guys so easy to cast out an organization that has changed the face of cancer treatment over the last 50 years?
I think it ought to warrant some general concern by both the organizers of this event and those who simply donate. Those with concerns ought to contact STJ directly and address their concerns that this was a step which was completely unnecessary and in reality offends far more people than their actions were attempting to prevent from being offended. In short, they appear to have picked a fight TODAY with a group currently helping them with their mission in an attempt to avoid a potential fight TOMORROW with groups which may or may not be helping them at all.
If STJ has a reasonable explanation and sees that they went too far, fine... If they don't then while I certainly agree that they do outstanding work it's impossible for me to blame anyone for not wanting to support an organization whose actions clearly declare their supporters racist and actions (hunting in this case) so offensive that they need to distance themselves from it.
At some point, who's more responsible for making sure their actions don't hurt the children they are there to help...STJ or donors?

Wouldn't this technically make St. Jude racist? They are the ones insinuating that "coon" = "black people"
The poster does nothing to make that connection, so by St. Jude getting out in front of it, aren't they the ones making the comparison?

More likely it was some doofus at ALSAC, not St. Jude proper, although it's dumb no matter which side did it.

JESUS I'm taking a beating with the downvotes
I freely admit that I view STJ with "rose colored glasses"
One cannot help but be a staunch defender of an organization so instrumental in my son's life.

The mistake was the first demand, the second demand says not only was it not a mistake it also states very clearly to the world "if you don't do what we want, we do not want your money". I agree, it will go elsewhere.
If you truly believe this was a mistake them e-mail someone there and have them get out in front of this before it blows up even more. I will go out on a limb and state that outdoorsman out donate PETA about 1000-1 to St. Jude every year, talk about cutting off your nose to spite your face.
