I’m not the one to tell him he can’t do it.

The reality is that he can be an NFL kicker.

He could also end up in a van down by the river.

Oh I don't feel bad at all, my 5 years in Baton Rouge were incredible and I'm making more money with less stress than I would have ever seen working in athletics or facility management.

The reality is if he actually does make it, he could have one bad week and be out of the league

Yea, he could definitely use it.

He meets tomorrow with the health services folks who picked up on some anxiety issues with his entrance exams…be interesting to see what they say. All the confidence in the world doesn’t change the stress of the task.

Yup. He looked up to Cade York and saw that reality. Just have to take the Cam Little route instead.

Not really. But I will say I know multiple people that worked in sports sales for major league teams, and the two guys I know of both quit doing that and working more lucrative fields now.

One of them told me that the pro team he worked for could pay people really low salaries just because people wanted to be around the pro sports team every day and go to the games and be on the court side

Sure AF hope not. The anxiety doesn’t stem from what he has to do on the football field, it comes from everything else.

that is definitely part of it, but that part only goes so far, my daughter worked for the Cowboys for 10 years in suite sales, she kind of lucked out because they built the new stadium about the time she went to work full time for them(she had interned four years while in college,) and Jerry was paying commissions to the sales staff as if they were realtors, but, as is typical of pro sports teams, if you aren't a player, coach, or last named Jones, in the case of the Cowboys, there's a pretty low ceiling pay wise

that degree coupled with a starting position in LSU football or baseball might pay off. you could "manage" future NIL stars or sell them insurance, but yes, a very small percentage probably find great success

The guys I know aren’t working for pro sports team teams anymore as I said.

One of them do something altogether different which I’m not sure quite what it is and another one does something with IT.

I'm going to be honest, judging by your posts, I'm very confused about your relationship with your son. You are all over the place with your posts. You have a son that is a kicker at Florida, but 6 months ago on early signing day, you didn't even know how long a scholarship agreement was for. You are on record claiming to know how much players are making in NIL, then also asking if player share info about how much NIL money they are making. For someone who has a son that is currently on a college football tema you seem to be pretty clueless about everything involving college sports, NIL, etc while also claiming to know a lot about all of that stuff.

He signed a 4 year 100% scholarship, but the coaches refer to his redshirt year all the time. He’s offered a redshirt but IDK when you have to claim that year…the current kicker is going on his third year with stats but is a senior. It’s confusing. If my son plays in 4 or less games I want his status to be RS Freshman next year…just trusting that will happen.

NIL is crazy, they still don’t know if profit sharing will happen and that’s 1/2 my son’s amount. No one know WTF is going on with NIL, I’m just honest. I think I should call his agent and just pay him one lump sum, it’s less than a grand for the year.
