“National Invitational Scholarship Camp” which is just a fancy name for a kicking, all specialist actually, camp.

My son did a soccer camp that was five minutes from my house and a science camp at the library also five minutes from my house.

Driven over 2000 miles to camps so far, 1200 or so more to go. He can drive next year.

I only have one child, and he only plays one sport…but he has been to multiple camps, so I got plural correct.

my kids are still kind of young for that. did mcneese but thats it. my oldest will do football camps next year though and my middle will prolly start baseball camps.

doing a ton of local things though. mother in law watches them during the day and insist on these camps for her to have a break

It’s kind of nuts between lessons, practice, and camps. Lessons are the most expensive, and done sparingly…practice is free, outside of it destroying $150 shoes, and done almost daily, and camps are far and expensive…but only used to measure you against others.

Wish we lived somewhere that we could get both lessons+practice or practice+competition in the same place and at the same time. Group lessons over a couple of hours or a big practice competition to keep him sharp. Nope.

with your kid being in HS you kind of have to do all of that.

my oldest is just going to middle school. he will be a big kid and is really good at throwing in track, but i dunno if he will be good yet in HS or good at football either.

my middle kid will be really good at baseball, but he is only going to 10u and im not big on the huge national camps at young ages so i got a while and honestly just overall im not huge on camps period.

feel like practice and lessons is where you get better. biggest game changer imo for position players in both baseball and football is the weightroom, the kitchen and sleep. until you meet certain metrics...all of the camps and stuff are just for expierences not really to get better.

your kid being a kicker and in HS is a little different. but i feel you abotu things being crazy. with 3 boys all playing atleast 2 sports, youngest plays 4, it is crazy between practice, lessons and games.

Camps are great for piling on the stress, whether it be for a ranking or simply to win a competition. Son made the finals on Sunday and there was a damn golf gallery of kickers watching.

He missed his 55 just left, which was stress induced. Hopefully he can remember what that stress did to his mechanics, sped him up I guess, and find some keys to prevent it.

They stress a bit in charting, but it’s a bit free-er nonetheless. This was Friday night, a 56 that goes a mile.

The guy at the end is funny.

nope, hate that word too, whenever I hear it used I sort of(at least internally,) do a double take to see who is using it and make a mental note

My kid has been attending camp misery this summer. Working 3 jobs to pay for gas and saving money for college.

He told his coaches he'd show up for practice when he could, but he couldn't make any of the camps.

Summer practices got canceled because all the rest of the kids are also working jobs.

Sometimes real life gets in the way of daddy's dreams.
