SCOTUS is set to release its decision within the next couple of months on whether a 1992 law, which prohibited states from permitting sports betting, is unconstitutional. A handful of states, including Nevada, were exempted from the law under a grandfather clause. In preparation of the decision, Congress is drafting a bill now that would create the framework for sports betting nationwide.

ETA: Is this the answer to our budget crisis? It would be a huge tax revenue.

I feel as if I need the government to protect me from my own sports betting.

I feel confident it won't be allowed in the majority of the "SEC" states.

Hope to the good Lord this doesn't happen.

I need the government to tell me how I should spend my money. How else would I know?

I’m equal parts intrigued and terrified that gambling on sports could be made easier for me. I’m gonna be placing prop bets on the women’s nit by next year.

U would have to be a moron to bet on over seas sportsbooks, once it's legal and the books are opened in casinos, betting machines at gas stations, etc in USA.

Neither do I but with the NBA getting behind it and wanting to rake 1% - it seems promising...however...I don't see Alabama or most of the deep red states going for this.

Well it is the most consequential gambling decision in the nation's history. Additionally, it is the most important federalism case the Supreme Court has heard in many, many years. I would expect it to take a long time.

What does the NBA plan on bringing to the table to merit a 1% rake?
