A little of both. The company was run better when it was called Oshman's Sporting Goods. Then GSC Acquisition Corp came in and bought it and didn't know WTF they were doing. They became like a Sears. They would have these huge showrooms filled with half inventory and needed a branding re-imaging.

Not surprising Sports Authority is out... but how Kmart sill has open doors is beyond me.
They must be living off the interest from the cash they made in the 70's and 80's. It also seems they have some prime location such as the Fl. Keys and other beach communities where there is no competition around because of lack of land.

Academy is superior to Dicks from an outdoor perspective (hunting/fishing). Dick's has it beat if you are into sports (football/baseball/golf/running/etc)
