I always thought freedom of speech just gave you the right not to be imprisoned for what you say. That you can be fired for anything you say or do, because that is the right of your employer. Am I wrong for thinking this?
Thanks for clarifying guys. That's what I thought. The other thread just got me wondering since so many people were like no, she shouldn't be fired because free speech.

Have you ever read the constitution?
You realized freedom of speech is between you and the government right?

Unless you're union or have a contract with a "I get to say stupid shite" clause.

For the most part this is correct. There are some nuances though particularly if your employer is a government entity/agency.
