I was at LSU in the late 70's...
Deke was an entity onto itself. Legendary status well beyond anyone else, and up for anything at any moment. Wild.
Among the others:
Kappa Sigs, KA and Sigma Chis were the big dogs.
SAE, Lambda Chi, Theta Xi, DTD, PKT, Acacia, Phi Delt middle of the pack.
AGR, Sig Ep, Pike, ZBT, DU sort of bringing up the rear. Greek Life was the undisputed center of the universe. Lots of good guys across the board. Very involved IFC, lots of intramurals, it was great.
Tri Delts were absolutely smoking hot. Chi O running a very close second, along with DZ and KD. Seriously, the Tri Delts were off the charts gorgeous...
Phi Mu and KKG were cute but could be on the chunky side, and wore a lot of plaid shorts...
Phi Phi's were pretty stuck up. Zeta's were plain but usually very nice.
ADPi, KAT were very solid, just normal girls.
Gamma Phi Beta had all the Italian girls, and AEPhi had the Jewish girls. One or two JAP's, but as a whole, a pretty homely group...
Lots of great TGIF's. South Seas were epic. Great music, lots of booze. The 70's kicked arse.
My grandmother was a house mother in the late 60's, so I had a solid foundation in place before I was 10 years old. Pretty freaking awesome...

Deke was just a whole thing all by itself and would get put on probation constantly
Sig Ep improved as went on
Sigma Chi had major drug issues around 2010-2012 i think and then were kicked off - think they just took over Theta Xi
KD, Chi-O, Tri-Delt were best sororities by reputation
Kappa and Phi Mu were a step below then DG/DZ/Pi Phi
Zeta and Theta were viewed as the bottom tier

Knew an LSU drop-out who was Theta Xi back in the early early 90s down on the bayou. Was a total dbag. Even had a fruity tatoo on his ankle

When I was at McNeese, it was KA, Kappa Sig, TKE and one other. KA was lame but wealthy. They all looked like little boys playing army during Old South week. Kappa Sig was pool party central. TKE members all got busted for drugs, mostly LSD in the early 70's, The other one that I cannot remember was lame AF.
Gals, the tops was Chi O which won any beauty pageant in town, and the scholarship trophy every year. ADPi was pretty good. Phi Mu were the sluts. There was another one but all really skinny and ugly girls.

The story that was going around at the time was that an alumni advisor walked in and there was coke on a table. Later on when the national guys got there to decide if they were going to pull the charter or not, they got out, saw the new Kappa Sig house and said if they pulled the charter that they would never get back on campus. So they decided to run with drug tests/boot brothers who refused and put them on probation.
Now how much of that was bullshite? Idk, that was just the word on Greek street while it was all happening.

When Sigma Chi got kicked off campus a few years ago the other chapters wanted to cherry pick their pledge class but those guys wanted to stick together. TKE offered to take them all so they did. It was an instant boost in prestige for TKE but I dont know if it stuck.
