The only rational argument against legal weed that I've heard is the difficulty with which relative "highness" can be measured as opposed to breathalyzers for alcohol. It makes it harder to enforce prohibitions against driving, working, or operating heavy machinery high.
This i actually agree with. The only real way to measure it is with a blood test...which cant really be done at a traffic stop.

If weed isn't addictive, why have Colorado pot growers hybridized their product to increase THC 300%?
If you could squeeze 300% efficiency out of your product, you wouldn't?
You realize that all crops are constantly tweaked to improve the harvest, right?

I oppose it for 2 reasons:
First, change the Federal laws before you change a state law
Second, we have bigger fricking problems than legalizing pot

I've never heard this one. If that's the case, say no to schwag.

That's consistently the worst argument argument against I hear.
"We can't legalize it because we can't determine at what point a person is 'too' stoned to function"
I've never heard of anyone getting in a car wreck because they were too high on marijuana fwiw.
Here's an article about it. Yes, it's from a weed advocacy group. LINK
I don't think the simple act of driving intoxicated should be illegal either; there are already penalties for reckless driving, if intoxicated you are just more likely to be nailed for doing so- but we are a nation run by militant helicopter mothers.

And nothing of note will be done about those problems any time soon. Might as well do what's (relatively) easy, right, and just.

Wrong
I can argue for or against it.
I think it is addictive or at least habit forming. But so are many other things that are legal
The argument that too many people are sent to prison for weed is ridiculous. Weed may have factored into an arrest but prison is the result of years, and multiple frick ups. Not just getting caught with personal use a time or two

I didn't say I agree with the argument, just that it was a rational one.

Why have farmers hybridized and genetically modified wheat to greatly increase individual plant output if wheat isn't addictive?

I know, it's just a bad arggument because it takes a practice that already runs counter to principles of responsibility and uses it as justification for further degredation of personal liberties.

I guess that's kind of fair enough. I just don't like the idea of how it paints people who like to occasionally smoke pot on their own time as somehow more unsafe than someone who drinks. No one makes these points about the guy who has a couple of beers to unwind Friday night after his shift.

Should be legal and treated the same as alcohol from a regulatory standpoint.

Fairly self explanatory... Unknown issues. Hence, the research of other states prior to just acting.
