I have some terrible karma coming my way from my son, terrible.
In the Land Mass, if a student maintains a 4.0 through a two-year degree track at the JCs, the public four-year universities offer them a full academic ride for their final two years based on continuing to have a 3.5 or better.
That was true several years ago, not exactly sure it's true today.
Not many takers on it even though a 4.0 at a Mississippi JuCo is not too difficult, actuarially most people who can do that do not go to JuCo.

i was on the 6 year plan and thought i was bad.
but back in the 80s, tuition for 15 hours was only like $1,100/semester.

You run the risk of taking classes which don't transfer. It all depends on the program.

not sure where you go to college, but here in TN t
Louisiana. I had ULL actually tell me that I needed 14 more hours of undergrad in order to get into their graduate program, because my LSU credits didn't transfer due to the language in the course description.

it's a very cost effective way to get a bachelors degree, if the core credits transfer, why not? the local cc where I'm at has sort of a pipeline set up with a couple of the big name state schools for students transferring to them(assuming they meet admission requirements,) to freeze their tuition at the cc rates, pretty good deal for kids who may not have the means to go all for years at XYU

Both of my cousins did this mostly b/c their Dad was cheap and didn't want to pay for 4 yrs tuition at UT Austin. They did CC for 2 yrs and then UT Austin for 2 to get their Bachelor's. They're both very successful now.
