What companies are paying for this? I would like to know so I can compile a list of companies that clearly charge me too much money.

Typical of any outside sales job where the company values customer relations and loyalty. I used to take my customers on fishing trips to the Gulf, hunting trips, sail fishing in Costa Rica, golf trips, etc.. Honestly, the novelty of it wore off after a few years.

All companies that serve as vendors or suppliers to large organizations. We used to budget around 100k for entertainment. Hell, on top of that, we would spend 30k on our annual customer appreciation golf tournament at TPC Sugarloaf. Are you the owner of the company? If so, you should be treated to a few of these excursions per year. Maybe not the trip to Pebble Beach with 2 co-workers but at least a round of golf once a month.

Wears off a lot faster than that for me. It's hard to enjoy when you are trying to make sure the customer is happy. Half the time you don't even truly like the people that much. It's not like you are taking your friends out to a steakhouse or a round of golf. You're taking a bunch of people you have to suck up to. It's much easier for some people. I'm not that good of a people person, I admit that. I have no idea how I ended up in sales
