Whether turning left or right, whether turning at a protected traffic light, or turning into a business, do you usually slow down to turn?

What kind of idiotic question is that?

I'm not talking about people slowing down to turn. I'm talking about people driving 45 or 55 in a 65 and not turning. Or, even worse, people driving those speeds in the left lane.

You stated that "it's so dangerous to drive far below what everyone else does"

And you're right. Doesn't matter the reason. Speed differential is what causes wrecks.

Yes, that's why a lot, if not most, turns have a turn lane now. So that you don't have to slow to a stop on a highway going 65 mph.

People turning don't bother me, it's the people that consistently drive way under the speed limit that do.

There seems to be a lot of friction on this highway.

The biggest conflict i see in ebr is Highland from 10 to airline is 55 now.
61 from 110 to 964 split @ Jetson is 50. Total bullshite. Funniest thing is LSP writing tickets for 62 in a 50 while watching other LEO fly by at 70 en route to Firing Range.

And not paying attention or making bad decisions pulling into traffic and not shooting the gas to it to not become a problem, especially for those cars behind a line of traffic who's vision is obstructed by the vehicle directly in front of them. So while the guy in front may be able to slam his brakes on because he sees what's unfolding directly in front of him, the people behind don't have that same luxury. It's just a general overall disconnect with people not thinking or being inconsiderate to other drivers driving the speed limit and things flowing smoothly.

Truth be known, I'd say it's also the flawed design on roads like Airline with businesses, and turns offs everywhere to assist those businesses, and no frontage roads. One design I think that does make sense is further down the road when you get into Prarieville and the actual turning lanes to use to turn into businesses. That as well as limited median cut throughs can make things a lot better for everyone.

I can't think of anywhere in south LA where there is multiple traffic lights and the speed limit is 65.

I've lived in cities where drivers all driving 70 down the interstate for example with maybe a car length in front being the norm feels comfortable, and traffic flows smoothly
It's this way in most big cities. For some reason, Louisiana drivers are slow as hell. And not slow as in safe, just flat out slow in general.

Thanks, haven't been down there in quite a while. Pretty similar stretch?

I can tell you that there's very few, if any, drivers doing 60 on 12 from Walker to BR when traffic is open enough to do so.

This is an old thread...

Update, August 30, 2015:

I noticed that the speed limit has been lowered in front of BR Acura to 60 mph.

Not sure how far out this goes, but I'm guessing about to the Fairground.

Just fyi...

The bump confused me.

Speed limit on I-12 all the way to Walker is 60.

They raised these thankfully. Now on I-12 it's 65 from Millerville to Denham and 70 from there on.

They raised the limit on I-10 after the split, too.

airline is rarely backed up because of an accident 65 is just fine. The other speeds are too slow
