When humans are born, babies are gifted with the ability to speak in tongues, or rather every language known to exist on Earth. It's a gift from God carried over from Heaven, to conception, to birth. For the first several months God speaks to babies and vice versa. He comforts them during their abrupt transition from divine celestial being to terrestrial human creature.
Over time babies lose the ability to speak the tongue of God as they learn one or two primary human languages (sometimes more).
However, an individual of strong faith will always have the ability to tap into their celestial database of languages to communicate directly with God.
The ability to speak in tongues is an instinct no different than animal instincts, but it's an instinct lost over time unless the individual is a person of true faith seeking to tap into their ancient and divine ability to speak any language of man and God.
Speaking in tongues is very real.

No. Humans speak gibberish. God speaks truth.

I hope all those that believe can find a place they enjoy as well. If you're looking for a place where you are going to 100% agree with everything and like 100% of the people that attend, I would suggest grabbing a Snickers.
Or just start your own non-denominational church. They're sort of like travel baseball teams.

If God spoke to the world right now, the overwhelming majority of humans couldn't understand him and most would die from the shock of his voice.
On the opposite side of the coin, God understands most of us thru love but he cannot understand the gibberish we speak because we don't speak his language (unless we accept "love" as a real language).
If you were to approach God and ramble off a conversation, he'd need Google Translate to understand you no different than you'd need Google Translate to understand him.
"Love" and "math" are the only languages God and humans have in common. Sadly, humans are losing the ability to love and calculate which is further distancing us from God.

Nothing in your post makes sense in the context of what was actually said.
OP says that he and his wife are Catholic but get nothing out of going to Mass.
Fr33 responds that it isn't supposed to be entertainment.
I say that it isn't entertainment, but a person should still get something out of it even if you don't expect it to be entertainment. I then say that it doesn't make sense to claim to be a religion if you get nothing out of following the religion. Which is what the OP said.

Your statements sounds somewhat conflicting. In the 1st sentence you complain about "to get something" out of church as in you aren't. In the 2nd sentence it changes to someone "claiming", but gets nothing out of following the tenets.
So, you are saying you understand the tenants in the 2nd, but you don't get anything out of it in the 1st? If so, you need to gain a little maturity.
None of this ever was said, and I struggle to see how you got it out of what was said. I am at a total loss for how a person could be so clueless to construct this response. I think that it must be a troll because it is so astoundingly ridiculous, but maybe you really are such a fool.

Ahhh... So me and God would need the all mighty and divine, google translate, to assist us. Gotcha.
So while we are on the subject, and because I am bored, if humans speak gibberish and God speaks in tongues... what language did Jesus (mostly known to be God's son) speak?

I'm the one who asked the question. It's not my responsibility to answer the question I asked. It's on you, deceivers of Christ...

an all powerful god can't understand the gibberish of vastly inferior beings that are not only from God, but a part of God is within each one?
