Pretty anywhere will be within 20 min.

I'd check out Hoffpauir Properties if I were you. They have some pretty affordable stuff that are pretty decent. They either build brand new or renovate anything they buy so they're not shitholes. They have some decent 1 beds from $700 to really nice stuff in the >$1500 range

A few. But you could easily drive to Lafayette to eat at one once every couple of months. There are plenty of great places in LC.

An edge to Lafayette there, but it's not like there isn't anywhere to go in LC. The casinos have brought the nightlife game up.

Again, you can drive over to see these.

There are plenty of good neighborhoods in Lake Charles. I don't even know what less country means. There isn't a whole foods but there are plenty of specialty meat places that are great and albertsons is a good alternative and comparable to Rouses.

Stay West of Ryan and South of 2-10 if you can afford it.

Downtown area, West Sallier, and Michael DeBakey areas are all good and easy access to pretty much everything around town.

This is true, especially working downtown, that's where I'd live. I was just making a generalization given the lack of facts in the OP.

I don't want to drive, I'll just live here

Albertsons isn't anything close to Rouses and you can't compare specialty meats, boudin, cracklin type places in Lake Charles with the ones in Lafayette. Lake Charles probably has one or two good ones while Lafayette has a dozen

Congrats! Lafayette is 2.5X the size of LC. But LC is trending up.

Hopefully the oil market bust will not have too big of a negative impact on Lafayette. I hear the housing market is starting to look bleak.

You do know that the Wal Mart deli was voted locally as the 4th best eatery in LC.

No shite, troof.

Lake Charles is an awesome place. Getting better by the day. Soon will eclipse Lafayette in almost every aspect. People will go where the money is. Restaurants and nightlife will soon follow. There are a ton of concerts in LC. The Casinos or Civic center has something every week. The lake is awesome for the summer. Fishing/Duck Hunting are top notch.

The "less country" thing got me too.

Maybe so, just hard for me to get over the Texas Twang accent.

They just built some new apartments/townhouses just east of Christus St. Pats. Super nice and i think are around $1500. Youd be in a great location

What type of places are you talking about in Lafayette and I'll give you a few LC options.

I'm pretty familiar with Rouses as that's where I shop at in New Orleans, and the Albertsons in LC on Country Club is comparable.

They're also building a new Kroger(I think) that's supposed to be a more upscale version near the country club.

If you want to stick your head in the sand and take an hour to get anywhere in Lafayette, then so be it. But LC isn't as far behind as youre making it out to be.

Don't hear that much. Of course the girl i work with is from Minnesota, so i get a lot of "dontchaknows" and things of that nature. Catch a lot more coon asses in my day to day than i do Texas twangers. If an accent is that big of a problem for you, you desperately need to find a hobby.

OP, check out Laginappe Magazine for the details on everything from dining to daily living.

Must admit that Reginald Balls Fried Chicken is some of the best Ive ever had.

The one on Enterprise Blvd near I10 was Popeyes way before they ever had Popeyes.
