For the first time in the program’s 39 years, Southern University’s School of Nursing (SUSON) has been voted the Best Nursing School in the United States.

This recognition comes after Nurse.org, a website that supports and empowers nursing professionals and students hosted their annual Best of Nursing Awards.

The university announced that SUSON was named a finalist, along with Emory University School of Nursing, Florida State University College of Nursing, the University of Michigan School of Nursing, and the University of Washington School of Nursing.

It's right up there with their law school

JK they actually do put out some decent nurses

ETA: I am skeptical of this though

I have zero angle, I’m just bringing an interesting topic to the board.

I can only speak for a handful of people I knew from back in the college days that graduated from that program and have gone on to be successful. My wife is not a Jag alum

If you dare go to Nurse.org, you will understand the ranking within a few seconds.

And I have no issue with Southern's nursing program. I am sure a degree from there is of value and will get you into the profession just like any other.

Ok I believe you

Big red flag for me was the use of “empower” in their release, that’s usually code for some bullshite

What did you see?

This didn't have any obvious standout issues.

Just for one example

LSU have averaged 97% over the last decade for NCLEX first time pass rate

Southern for example

2023-68%

2022-79%

2021-82%

Yeah, on an objective basis, NCLEX pass rates would seem to be a significant metric.

I went and left after about 15 seconds.

You log into what you would think is an accurate representation of the Nursing profession which is 87.7% white women to be exact and not one picture on the main page.

Hmm, interesting.

Southern clearly puts its students through a rigorous academic process whereas LSU clearly allows everyone to pass the NCLEX exam.

Southern is now above the national average for NCLEX passing, but it’s far behind LSU, Tech, and ULL

That’s just this state
