Feel bad for the flamingos. Article said the flamingo that died trying to defend its mate was depressed until it succumbed to sustained injuries. Sad.

You have probably met my cousin, then. If I hadn't played football in college, I most likely would have enrolled there and PIKEd, since that's where most peeps from my area pledge. God was looking out for me, had I gone that route, I'd have flunked out and ended up on a city maintenance crew.
ETA: Also, IIRC, the PIKE's were initially accused of perpetrating this heinous act against animal kind:

Dude I went to a different school and got a graduate degree from LSU. I was a pike but I have a kid at Ole Miss in a frat but not in either of those three that's the only reason I know the location of the house in Oxford. I've never even stepped in it except once like 25 years ago at some stupid fraternity regional conference. My only memory of them is their rep told everyone at the meeting that they would not accept transfers as actives, not sure why they announced that to all of us (as we didn't give a shite) but I thought it was an idiotic policy and i'd never heard of that before. They seemed like a good house at the time but not that special. I was just busting your balls and I don't know shite about the current state of any of those chapters except that you'll have a pool and I only knew that because when my much younger sister went to Ole Miss she had a boyfriend who was in your house. FWIW he was a decent guy. When you get older you'll realize frat life is kind of a joke later on. Have a nice day.

I was there in the early 90's & our live Golden Eagle Mascot, Nugget, was shot & killed. His enclosure was directly across the Frat house at beginning of Row, can't recall their name. I dont think they found the guys, but most beliwve came from the frat house But after that, no live eagle mascots anymore. Thanks a-holes. Amazing creature too

I was there around the time that happened, too, except the story I heard (from the Student Printz) editor was that his student handlers hadn't been feeding it.
