Remember the signs all over White Oak Landing protesting these apartments circa 94? They plopped a shite hole complex right smack dab in the middle of a good area.

I think Sec 8 is subsidies to landlords of houses. I think there's a separate cancerous program for apartments.

Not quite... but once they realized that there wasn't enough demand out there to fill them up they went section 8 and they went to shite.

Yes, I do. The only good news is that South Harrell's Ferry Road is a long, winding road and too far of a walk for many of the tenants of St. Jean Apartments to visit or pass through White Oak Landing.

Back around 1999-2000 I was home on leave and went there to pick up a friend. I was sitting in the parking lot for about 15 minutes and when I left someone followed me out. I got on the interstate and noticed this car was tailing me so my friend told me to get off on College Dr and see if the car would follow.

He followed me into the Albertson's parking lot and my buddy says "I don't know who the frick this is but I'm about to whip his arse." We get out and this guy gets out of the car and pulls out his badge. It was an undercover working that apartment complex and thought I was there to buy drugs.

What I'm saying is... this shite at St. Jean isn't new.

I knew before scrolling down it would be

St. Jean Apartments.

At least they keep the complex looking nice. I'm sure it's disgusting inside most of those units, but you can't tell passing by.

I'm pretty sure they were set to be section 8 from the beginning. The signs in yards before they were built said this. So maybe they let regular tenants lease first. Then opened up to Sec 8. But the locals knew it would be Sec 8 before the first apartment was leased.

There are blended complexes around BR for sure. You can be paying twice what your neighbor pays in rent. It's fricked up. You have to call and explicitly ask if the place accepts Section 8 tenants. That shite ain't publicly shared in your monthly news letter. But you can spot them .

Nope, still section 8 for apts.

But there are also separate tax credit properties where rent is based on income.

That's what the frick Oakleigh was doing. The manager insisted they didn't take Sec 8 applications.

But found out when new management took over and sent out numerous notices that these "payment plans" people had were going away. So they weren't leasing sec 8 but they had low-income appeasements.
That's why it's nicer place 2 years after we ditched that place b/c drug dealers got shot outside my window.

When I first started working at Papa Johns out there while in school, St. Jean wasn't too bad, around Summer 2000. By the time I graduated and quit delivering pizzas (2003) they were a 'no-go' zone for deliveries. Had a few drivers get robbed in there.

Maison Bocage and Jefferson Place are really nice. But, by and large, most complexes around BR aren't too desirable.
