Given the magnitude of the severe weather and flooding threat over the next few days, it’s probably time for a fresh thread with fresh information.

Current Watches and Warnings:

I am in the purple area for this evening’s fireworks. Gonna stay on the porch with some whiskey for as long as I can.

Tropical Tidbits has had the same serious look for this period for at least the previous three days.

Are you not possible of avoiding two whole arse threads on a board with 25 on the front page? Or does your lack of opposable thumbs make that impossible for you?

OU Guy, the OP of that thread, said that he couldn’t keep it updated due to work and suggested that I start a new one with updated information in the OP.

The OP of the other thread wasn’t going to be around enough during the day to update.
A fresh start on the subject is not a bad thing.
Go find something else to bitch about.

OMG the horror!

What would we do without frequent updates for thunderstorms??

I just don't buy into the new fad of weather sensationalism, and threads like these just feed into it

Same type of guy who will bitch after a storm that "nothing even happened!" because the tornados that touched down didn't flatten his house specifically

Supposedly lots of historic flooding is predicted up there which is believed to affect the Mississippi River levels. I love a good OT Mississippi River flood thread, been a long time since we had one of those. The debates regarding sediment flow/distribution, the Old River Control Structure, and whether or not the river would ever go back to its current path if that structure fails always entertain me.

What does it hurt for those of us who are interested in the weather, or those who are in the threat area, to have a thread to discuss it?

We just don’t care what you buy into and if you have a problem with the these threads then I suggest you just ignore them. Otherwise, you can kiss our collective asses.

Or, and hear me out, you could put this new information in one of the 3 the already published threads on typical rain events

Weather threads have been around on the OT longer than you have

The forecast for the area that me and a few others on this board live in is worthy of discussion

Forecasts give you a range of possibilities and let you decide how to prepare and react from there.

The last guy crying about meteorology on this board was bemoaning the flash flood watch that happened in Louisiana this past weekend… lo and behold an hour or two later, there were flash floods

But they didn’t effect him specifically so he probably isn’t even aware of them

Either way, seems like an easy solution to not click on things you don’t want to see

Or, and hear me out, you could just ignore these threads if you aren’t interested in them. The old thread had an outdated thread title and outdated OP. The user who started that thread, OU Guy, suggested that I start a new one because he isn’t where he can keep the old one updated. I could post new information in those threads, and I usually do, but then it just gets buried. An updated OP doesn’t get buried.

You might have to go change your tampon since this is now a stickied thread. I hope you can handle this emotionally.
