Most of what he's doing is intended towards letting students live in the neighborhood.
I'm a student, posting from a recliner in the den of my Southdowns house.
I have lived in 3 houses with 3 different landlords in Southdowns over the past 4 years. One of my current roommates lived in another Southdowns house with two other guys before we moved into together.
Between the 4 landlords we've rented from we have never been asked if we were related to the other roommates. It is a nonissue. Not sure why this guy is making a big stink over nothing.

I am female. We remember EVERYTHING.
The light that's always burning in the empty room says otherwise.

Give me an example of a successful Section 8 area in the USA
I figured I'd keep it local....

How could one verify if an apartment in Baton Rouge is section 8?

Oh, I suspect your neighbors already knew your status. We have ways...

Yeah I figured that. I'm asking about some off Jefferson highway.

Have you tried the HUD website? Maybe there's a search feature there.
Actually a good question...I'm curious also.
ETA: this might be it:

Yep, and since those shitty apartments went section 8, Tigerland has seen an influx of property crime, assaults, and murders.

I think the article said something about a homeowner in the area going after Meyers for breaking that law.

Wow a whole lot of misinformation about section 8 housing in this bitch.
Really??? Really???

Why so much uproar about someone wanting to live in a better area of town?
Maybe these people are trying their best to maintain employment but keep on getting beat down by their redneck boss.
Maybe these people enjoy the job they have but unfortunately does not pay well so the government steps in and helps out.
In New Orleans they have the "artist lofts" which are pretty much section 8 and I never hear New Orleans residents complaining about the benefits these people receive.
It sucks how a small group of bad seeds can ruin everything for a whole demographic.
Or how a MAJORITY of a group ruins it for the MINORITY.
Section 8 is fricking bullshite. If they want to renovate a crappy building and put them in it, fine. But putting them in an already nice building/house in a nice area and allowing them to destroy/not keep it up with NO punishment is absolutely bullshite.
If they penalized and removed tenants who didn't maintain their property or who got in ANY trouble with the law, then I'd be much more inclined to accept it.
As it is, they put shitheads on assistance they don't deserve in nice neighborhoods and ruin the property value for others who have spent their life savings on a home in an nice area.
They need to drug test them, have monthly property checks/drive-bys without them coming in the home (appearance), and tell them if they get in any trouble with the law they can be removed by the state (kind of like a probation officer, but less invasive)

Yes because a grown man with a law degree and properties trolling in real life isn't pathetic at all. It's comedy.

Missed the explosion of the thread since this AM. Damn work... but will mention this.
I am a LSU grad who rented houses around campus. Current resident of SouthDowns with a family.
Certainly NOT-anti student or anything like that but I came home last night and driving down my street, I see...
8 college age males blocking the street while playing basketball on a goal they had dragged to the end of their driveway. Had to beep my horn to get them to move. (Before anyone says it - all white kids)
Point being, this is a family neighborhood and I shouldn't have to tell 8 young adults to get the frick out of the middle of the street. This would be all cool around campus but not in the middle of SouthDowns. Not happy that property is becoming a fraternity house.

I don't think that entire area is zone A1 (or whatever the family zoning is called). I didn't look this up, but for whatever reason I recall the area close to the lakes to the west of Stanford as being A1 but not the other side of Stanford...
