Did we go back to the 90's. How people sue for something they did to themselves is unbelievable.
quote:

A Vineland man has sued an employee and manager of a local Dunkin’ Donuts after he says he was burned by a cup of coffee that spilled on his lap last year while he was going through the restaurant’s drive-thru
quote:

The man, Leonard Allen, is also suing Dunkin’ Donuts Inc., in addition to the manager and employee of the Vineland coffee shop located at 709 E. Chestnut Ave.
quote:

The incident happened on Aug. 25 when an unnamed female employee “without any due caution” served him a “scalding hot” medium coffee “in a manner as to spill the entirety of the liquid on Plaintiff’s lap and causing immediate and agonizing pain to Plaintiff’s thigh and groin area,” according to the suit,
quote:

Allen suffered second degree burns to his “persons and other personal injuries of both temporary and permanent nature,” the suit claims. As a result, he will “be compelled to expend large sums of money for physicians and medical treatment in an attempt to cure himself of said injuries and has been prevented from attending to his normal business and affairs, and has suffered various other economic and noneconomic damages,” it claims.

That's their opinion then. Did they think the coffee would be cold?

This sounds like he dropped it in the transfer from employee to customer. This may be a little different than McDonalds "coffee cooter" incident.

They were.

People that have ACTUALLY studied the case know that it was an absolutely legitimate case and was a total slam dunk.

Somehow it became a meme and poster child for fraud claims and that was patently false.

Don't know about this one, but most companies have learned their lessons with the McD's case so I doubt it is legit.

The spilling hot coffee was a one-time thing and McDonald's got rightfully crushed for the way they handled from how they made the coffee to the way they handled the lawsuit. This ain't going anywhere.

I'm sure it wasn't his first cup of coffee from there as well.

I have ACTUALLY studied the case. McDonald's was guilty of having the coffee too hot, I won't dispute that. My issue is the person caused the spill. Her fault, period.

They were guilty of a lot more than that. If you've studied the case, you know that. It went a lot deeper, including them completely dismissing warnings from their own experts and outside companies.

That isn't how this works.

The McD case was good. This case is likely trash.

Personal accountability isn't how it works? Interesting.

I will never support a frivolous case where someone spilled the product on themselves.

I'm not saying you are wrong, I just think the whole thing was BS.

I bitched out a Chick-fil-A manager last year over spilled coffee. I got it in the drive thru. The lid and cup was all fricked up so when I went to grab it coffee spilled all over my hand and console.

Plus it's a younger man, not an old lady. The coffee might have done extra damage.
