I don't live in fear. I rarely ever think about being a gun violence victim to be honest.

I grew up in a house full of guns. Magically we all survived too.

You'll get downvotes to oblivion, but I'm not sure how someone could argue against the fact that gun access in this country is incredibly plentiful.

I'm not arguing whether that's a good thing or not, just that it's a fact.

As compared to the 60's? No way.

a laser absolutely helps
It does not. What I've found, is that your eyes follow the laser dot instead of the intended target. Once you shoot once, that dot bounces up, and then you waste valuable time trying to find it again and put it back on target. Not to mention the fact that his hands will be shaking like crazy.

You should be able to empty a full mag on a man-sized target shooting as fast as you can. No time to look for a dot in that situation

No offense. But these statements are breathtakingly ignorant. Firearms were FAR easier to get in the 60’s. You could walk into any general store or a even Sears & Roebuck and buy one for next to nothing. You could even mail order them from catalogs. And the words “background check” hadn’t even been thought of then.

Yeah, firearms are plentiful in this country - always have been and always will be. It definitely makes things like this easier to pull off, but there are plenty of benefits too.

Ah yes. The "guns are bad but I won't offer any solutions" reply

I don't want to start a riot. There are solutions. Simply look at what works in other countries. They don't experience near the gun violence that we do. Yet they have video games, movies, and mental illness.

I'm not comparing it to the 60s, he was.

Didn't mean any confusion.

Except it's not a solution and its contradicted by the fact that gun laws are infinitely more strict today than they were 30 years ago yet we have far more shootings.

You still have yet to answer why this is. Once you answer that question, you'll know what the solution is.

They also don't have a constitutionally protected right to arms either. It's damn near impossible to get a gun in Mexico legally and they aren't really a bastion of gun-free violence.

You are much more likely to get killed by a drunk driver in a car accident than you are by a gun.

That’s not accurate. There were 5000 more deaths by gun than drunk driver last year, and that’s excluding suicides.

Live in fear? The entire purpose of the 2nd amendment was to allow the people to defend themselves from a tyrannical government. If the government had a cannon, joe down the street had the right to purchase a cannon if he chose to. Everyone should have a healthy fear of their government.

A 21st century example would be South Africa

Because they don't have near the guns we have. That doesn't mean guns are the problem, it just means one of the tools isn't as easily available to them.

Look, I'm willing to admit guns are an incredibly effective killing machine. People that argue taking away guns just mean you'll be killed with a knife instead are ridiculous. However, I believe the amount of guns in this country are a net positive and there is ZERO way to go backwards.

We have no effective way to track them either. That battle is over. Guns will never be removed from American society

What countries? Please use the UK or France as an example.

So we go back to mental health

Meh...could be that some people don’t mature as early as others. Not sure if that’s really a mental health issue. Could be, I suppose.

I think having a shitty childhood is more likely to turn you into a mass shooter than anything. That’s a parenting issue.
