Been living here since 2019, and I like it. Food, casinos, fishing, golf, etc.

I moved here from Lafayette, which I lived there for 13 years. While I liked living in Lafayette, I'm starting to prefer living here in LC. Traffic isn't nearly as bad, just as many places to eat, if not more. Good saltwater and freshwater fishing. Golf courses that range in cost from $35 to whatever the casino courses cost (I don't know because I'm not good enough to pay that much to play a round). Good crabbing right down the road. Decent entertainment. During football season there are live bands and shite on Friday nights for home games. Crying Eagle s a good hangout with good finger food to snack on while drinking beers.

Don't get me wrong, there are definitely ghettos here, but a lot less violent crime than BR or NOLA.

Plus, if you aren't a complete idiot, you can get a maintenance gig at one of the plants here, and make good money. And there are some pretty good public schools here.

With my last job, I had to spend a few weeks out of the year in Lake Charles. I used to dislike it until I got tired of spending time in my hotel room and actually went out and explored. Last time I was there, I took a trip to Cameron Prairie NWR Pintail Drive and it was absolutely beautiful. Really wished I had my camera.

Then I trekked down to Hackberry beach and thought it was beautiful too.

Sam Houston Jones Stake Park is next on my list, and I want to get a boat on the Calcasieu river.

And yes, the women in LC are abnormally hot.

100% pass on Loggerheads. Owner is an absolute douche! Its full of 40-60 year old over tanned and wrinkled has-beens that take too much internet testosterone and try to re live their 20's. It's a sad sack of a place.

Had this convo with the wife recently.....IF you are going to live in Louisiana, I'd rather be in LC over other larger LA cities.

I laughed too hard at this. Mainly because I'm pretty sure he is going to see this. He was surfing tigerdroppings on his phone in court not too long ago.

isn't the i10 bridge so unsafe that shell doesn't allow its employees to drive over it? that's all i know about lake charles.

LMAO.... It needs replacing, but several years ago there was alot of work repairing the supports. The company I worked for at the time built the scaffolds underneath. It was pretty bad before they repaired it. The problem with building a new bridge at that location is the marsh on the west side is full of EDC contamination from a leak 15-20 years ago. When that mud and sediment is disturbed it will release the contaminate into the water and river.
