A U.S. soldier stationed abroad is fighting the battle of a lifetime in an effort to gain custody of a baby that is not biologically his. Army Sgt. Steven Garcia, 24, who is stationed in Seoul, South Korea, was expecting a baby with his estranged wife Marina Garcia, until she told him that the child was not biologically his. "I was under the assumption the entire time that she was pregnant that I was the father. When I found out I wasn't, I was pretty upset; I was kind of in denial. I couldn't believe what was going on,”

Sounds like he dodged one.

Blessing in disguise.

Not necessarily, depending on which laws preside, he could still be on the hook for child support

Does he get any sort of rights since it is not his kid but he was married to the mother at the time?

This one is tricky. He obviously wants to be in the kids life.

And reading the story, she told him the baby died in childbirth and she arranged to have another couple adopt, all without his knowledge, so she could keep it all a secret.

Very true. However if she doesnt want him in her life and he has even a halfway decent lawyer then he will get out of it.

Pretty sure in LA, the husband is legally the father even if DNA test shows its not really his kid. He would have to go to court to dispute that if he didn't want to get stuck paying child support for another man's baby...unless the husband, wife, and Jody all went to an attorney and signed affidavits that husband is not the father and Jody is.

I think the main concern isn't who the father is, but who the provider is. Having someone on the hook for bills.

He will definitely have a laughing fit, centered around relief, at some point in the future.

Or, he'll cry when he finds out that the law gave his baby two daddies for support purposes.

What state? It could happen. Lol

Eta: I should have read more. Baws done touched on this.
