The Fed is not allowing the free market to determine supply and demand for a product. Just my .02.
The same can be said for insurance
and the auto industry
and the gun industry
and any industry that affirmative action laws give other benefits over other, which is just about every industry.

extended out benefits of shite efficiency when it comes to solar energy conversion
Id say solar is way more efficient than the current "On Demand" energy we have know.

I agree with health insurance.

How is there not a free market on the auto industry? I don't understand that one.

I agree with this 100%.

Well there was the whole "cash for clunkers" thing 7 years ago which gave people incentives to buy new more fuel efficient cars if they traded in their old one. Sounds great right? But nobody thinks of the repair shops and how the government screwed them out of tons of business. Those cars didnt go to used car lots and get resold. No, they got completely taken out the market and repair shops lost millions of potential customers.

Gotcha. Agreed this was a HUGE scam. I thought you were implying auto insurance. My fault. I was working for major car rental company during this time and the Auto Market in my area was a complete mess for months/years during this deal.

so the $25m cap no longer exists?
That's on the state. This was a federal extension.

Oil prices will stay low and the US will lose jobs.
But over time oil will go back up and we will be selling it overseas. That in turn will make us pay more at the pump.
Just another way for the big boys to dig in our pockets.

So a 30k solar system that will run your whole house will now cost 21k before the state rebates which vary from state to state.
30k - 30% = 21k
21k financed 5 years at current bank rate 4.5%
Payment 391.50
average electric bill per month 138.89
138.89 x 12 = 1,666.68 a year
1,666.68 x 25 years(est. life of panels)= $41,667.00
Average energy cost increase per year in the US 3.2%
3.2% + 41,667 = 43000.35
43000.35- 21000= $22,000.35 in savings
Take that 22k you saved over 20 years($145.00 per month) and let it grow at current interest rates and that 22k turns into $54,827.45
Now if your bill is more than 130 a month on average that $54,827.45 will be even bigger.
Thats how you invest.

It won't happen overnight, but refineries will have no need to operate in this country.
When refineries leave you will see the supporting petro-chem follow them as well as the lobbying wing that brings a lot of money and clout.
It isn't manufacturing as a while, but you will see a domino effect.

Eventually, yes. Selling off non-renewable resources is a bad idea.

so, this is the fed tax break? that's 30%. state tax break was an additional 50%.
Only on up to the first $25,000 spent. So most Solar companies make $25,000 systems.
When I got my system, I had to pay $5K out of pocket. The system covers about 60-80% of my regular usage depending on the number of sunny days. My bill for October was $22. (My house is very well insulated and we didn't run the heat or AC very much) I think that the credits are huge boondoggles, but with so many people getting gov't hand outs, I figured I would cash in on this one. The system will pay for itself in 3 more years!

You do know that refineries are loving lower oil prices. Refinery stock is up across the board. Lower oil prices lowers their cost.

You cannot buy a $30k solar system that can run an average sized house 24/7. The fact of the matter is that in most places, even with government money thrown in, you will never recover your investment in solar.
