Just a reminder a year in advance:
1. Don’t look at it directly.
2. Your dog doesn’t know, nor does it care, nor is it going to look directly at it. Your dog is smarter than you.

A hybrid solar eclipse (some areas see it as a total eclipse and other areas see it as an annular eclipse) will occur on April 20th - less than two weeks from today.
While not observable from the U.S., the hybrid eclipse will be visible from western Australia, East Timor, and eastern Indonesia beginning at 21:36 EDT on April 19 (0136 GMT on April 20) and ending at 2:59 a.m. EDT (0659 GMT) on the following day, according to In the Sky(opens in new tab).

I had to drive 10 miles to see the last eclipse. I have to go an extra 10 to see next years. Two total eclipses in seven years ain’t bad.

I was in North Platte, NE for the last one and was in the path of darkness. Was freakin AWESOME to experience.

There is actually one this fall over Texas and Mexico.
Another one will come in 2045, and the one 2052 will pass just south of New Orleans or whatever is left of it after coastal erosion takes its toll.
