I tried to use my phones camera to look at it. I have a bad headache and am nauseated. Screw the eclipse.

Weather Channel says it's sunny here with no clouds
Accuweather says it's partly cloudy

on the coast it rained all morning with clouds. It is slowly clearing up for a 2:40 EST view. I am 168 miles from the charleston SC view.

Why does the eclipse hurt your eyes any more than looking at the sun any other time?
Posted on 8/21/17 at 12:07 pm to goldennugget
Can't you just look up and see if it's cloudy or not?

I scheduled a truck to the northwest early last week.I kept reminding him to pick up some glasses. Now he calls bitchin' that he can't find any.

Yes but I was looking at forecasts for the next hour and a half

I don't think there is anything magical about the eclipse when it comes to destroying your vision.
Same radiation, less (or no) pupil contraction to protect the soft innards like would happen with regular glancing at the sun. That's the difference: you can stare
Posted on 8/21/17 at 12:08 pm to Tiger Ryno
Probably because you naturally don't try to stare at the sun for minutes at a time.

Because any other time you are not dumb enough to stare at the sun.

Partial getting ready to start.
Columbia is full and lively. Williams Brice is basically a giant tailgate.

NC coast--suppose to start at 1:19-with the max eclipse covering at 2:48, ends 4:09. I will be watching it from my allergy ENTs office if some one lends me glasses.
