So why arent they using the emergency alert system for any of these updates?

EAS works best for situations of high time-sensitivity (the tornado is coming down your block) or when folks aren't paying attention (the tornado is coming down your block but you are watching the Alabama/LSU game).

I'm pretty sure everyone is paying attention to this.

Scariest shite I've ever heard.

We were at Billy Bobs on NYE a couple years ago and one went out. Every phone in the place went off with an Amber alert at one time. Everyone went nuts for a second
