So the freeze that happened back in mid-March killed 60% of the peach crop....

Here in West Central and Middle Georgia.
We went to pick strawberries yesterday and the lady running the stand was talking w/the wife and I on the way out and she brought this up. It wasn't that the freeze was late, it wasn't, it was on time here (2nd week of March), but we had such a warm February that everything started blooming and sprouting early, including the peach trees(which normally start budding in Mid-late March) that when the freeze hit it killed the buds/plants that weren't completely out.
So long story short, prepare to pay more for peaches this year.

The farm we were at west of Macon grows strawberries and peaches (amongst other things), but those are their two big ones.

Killed stuff here in Alabama. I Even lost a maple tree that had started budding out. How can you lose a maple tree due to a frost??
Now, I know the peach trees aren't dying, just won't produce the peaches.

I was walking my property today checking for blackberries, completely toast.
Hopefully they recover soon, my wife and kids really enjoy picking

Diesel is worth the price of gold. It’s the cheapest grain some farmers have ever sold.

The strawberries are fine. But that's b/c they were already growing fruit by mid-March so they weren't affected as bad.
I'm ambivalent on blackberries, but the freeze better not of hurt the blueberries or we'll fight.![](https://images.tigerdroppings.com/Images/Icons/IconLOL.gif)

I lost the 2 I had this year. I had successfully stratified 3 last year; Hopefully I’ll only have to suffer a couple of years.

Wow, so create a crisis or an excuse to explain a possible shortage/emergency is all it takes to influence the actual supply/ demand curve. Who would have thought it would be so easy to manipulate price?
