There is a ton of yankee's that think swamp people is the whole state. I had a lady seriously ask if schools provide boats for children to get to school or if everyone has to use their personal boat.

One time I went to this conference in high school, gave a speech as a complete coonass (was hilarious thanks for asking), and had people from Shreveport asking if they could come see my houseboat and pet nutria in da marsh after

Being born and raised in South Louisiana and also having lived in 5 other states now including the north and the west, I do have to correct peoples general impression that all people from Louisiana meet this stereotype. Only most of the people from Louisiana are ignorant bible-thumping, backwood, redneck hicks...not all of them

The southern half of the state where 3/4 of the people live is anything but redneck and bible thumping. Ignorant and backwoods, maybe, but those Catholic coonasses sure aren’t judgemental. They pretty much just want to eat, drink, party, and have a good time.

Even at the Klan’s height, they didn’t have much a foothold in south Louisiana because the Klan was anti-Catholic as it was anti-Black. Thus, the Catholics had to form their own hate group: the Knights of the White Camelia. However, the Irish catholics and Italian catholics didn’t like each other, and both hated the Cajuns so that group ended up splitting as well.
So, with all the whites busy hating each other, Jews were pretty damn safe.

I have lived in New Orleans, Riveridge, Kenner, Metairie, Laplace, Sorrento, Manchac, Galvez, Prairieville, Gonzales, Baton Rouge, Denham Springs, Walker, Clinton, Plaquemine, Lafayette, Scott and Alexandria and they are all loaded up with bible-thumping rednecks. I guarun-damn-tee ya! Even BR and NO are infested. You just don't think so because they seem normal based on your experience...they are not and I am unfortunately related to a shite-ton of them.

Dude, I live in AP. Give me names. You’re a f$&king liar. If you think that area is “redneck” or filled with holy rollers than you have zero sense of perspective. Relative to the rest of the deep south, south Louisiana (with the noted exception of Livingston Parish) may as well be soddam. Hell, they binge drink and gamble at their church fairs, and not just bingo.

The AP is infested with hardcore Pentecostals and Southern Baptists. If you have ever been in a general conversation where someone says either "Praise the lord" or "Amen"...you are a bible-thumper.
