So is the Lariat worth the extra money over XLT?

Well it depends on your preference.
If you want leather and the other upgrades it is worth it.
If you don't, then it isn't worth it.

The front end looks way better. You're also probably paying for the LED headlights

I looked at trucks for over a year and got the lariat package
I think I would have been fine with the XLT package to be honest, but I do think it is worth the extra money to go Lariat
Several people comment on the differences and have had friends who have recently bought the XLT and then ride in my truck and lament that they didn't go with lariat

You're getting robbed if it's costing you $8k difference between an XLT and a Lariat.
MSRP difference is less than $5500.

I had a friend that bought a brand new XLT, and a couple months later was wondering why the hell he didn't get at least the Lariat. They look a lot better inside and out. I can't give specifics, but I'd bet you'd regret the XLT

Ford offers a lot more in dealer incentives for the XLT than the Lariat.
