How much does SECN really matter at this point? Like someone said, eventually they'll get it. If for some reason they don't, I'll find a way to watch it (either at the game or at a friends house). I just see it as a huge bargaining chip.

Just called. I have 1.5 years left on my contract.
Offered $10/month for a year
Free HBO/Showtime/Cinemax for 3 months
Sunday Ticket Max free
I'm happy
ETA - This was a 10 minute call. When the bot asks why you call, I said cancellation and went straight to retention. Also that all came with no further commitments.
I told her I wanted to cancel because signal goes out too often even during slight rain, which is true. So on top of the offers, she's sending a technician out free of charge. Not sure if that's normal but I want to say they try to get you on a service charge normally.

My contract was up and I got $30 off per month for 12 months. Pretty good for a 10 minute phone call.

Just talked to James and got 10 a month off my bill for 12 months. Still have 1 year on my contract.
Guess I will have to call back tomorrow and try to get someone else.

I just became a new customer less than 60 days ago.
They only gave me a one time $15 credit and more sports channels for a month.
What else should I have done?

The best they could do was give me a $5 credit for 6 months and HBO for 3 mos. They have worked with me in the past for extra credit and HD credits which just ended. I said I wanted the $10 credit or turn it off. They said the best we can do is $5. I said turn it off at the end of this month that I am paid up to. I'll wait for the don't leave call.

I don't know who you are, but I'm glad I read this thread. You inspired me to call Directv.
I had already gotten half off the Sunday Ticket Max for 2014 and had even been billed for one month of it. I decided screw it, if this guy can get it free, so can I again.
First guy told me he wouldn't do it for free because I had it free last year.
Called back immediately after that and the next guy did it for me. Credited me back the first installment that I had already been billed for and had paid for and then gave it to me for free. + $5 for 6 months, HBO for 3 months and told me to call back in like 2 weeks to get another $20 for 12 months.
So for that, thank you

You Direct TV customers are happy about getting $15 off your bill, when the big picture is that they will still have no SECN?
I don't get it. I'd be switching.

you'll have plenty of opportunity. reject the first couple of offers if you have a couple weeks. they'll keep calling almost daily.

What is funny when people like you that have NO clue what will happen try to speak like positively there is no way Directv will carry the SEC network.
All reports are pointing towards Directv being close to a deal. If you don't think Directv will get a deal done, you aren't very bright.
If September comes along and you are watching LSU blow New Mexico State out of the water and Directv doesn't have the SEC Network you can bump this thread.
And I just saved $430 that during the next year off of my cable bill + I have the ability to watch all of the Saints games in Houston which otherwise wouldn't be possible. Those few shitty LSU games (that I can watch in a bar or my neighbors house IF Directv doesn't get SECN) were not worth the $430 in savings I just received.
