Every time I’ve watched hurricane coverage they talk about the warm water as a must-have for hurricane development.
So what’s up with Hurricane Fiona in Nova Scotia, where the temp is 50 degrees?

LOL are you serious? The water was still warm just East of New York. Also its why it is now sub tropical or whatever its called and will weaken dramatically shortly.

Air temp =/= water temp.

Don’t be silly, humans are too stupid to come up with such technology.

It's a wonder we ever made it to the moon, I mean as stupid as we are.

There have been storms in the North Pacific that didn't form in warm water but that had the shape, pressure, and precipitation of a Hurricane/Cyclone and that were so wet and near freezing that ships were destroyed by the weight of ice on them. Forty years ago there were scientific discussions and they called them hurricanes because they met the criteria,

Technically, it isn't Hurricane Fiona anymore. It is post-tropical cyclone Fiona.

I will still call it Hurricane Fiona when it made landfall because it earned it.

I thought when former hurricanes hit the NE they referred to them as “super storms”.
