I work overnights in the Mid City area sometimes, and it's not unusual to hear gunshots out there. It became a common enough occurrence that I built a home office to work from instead of going/coming/staying around there at night.

I lived downtown and hearing gunshots around 2:00 am was pretty common Thursday through Friday nights. There are certain people that think it's cool to drive off and fire rounds off in the air as the clubs let out. They aren't shooting at anybody, just in the air. It's pretty stupid.
