New Year’s Day 02 was awesome. Me and like 5 friends hung out all day watching bowl games leading up to lsu in the sugar bowl that night. Didn’t even know that it was going to snow.

I got more down votes last month for saying it would not surprise me to see snow in January as far south as Alexandria.

Over a half inch of ice would be terrible.
Driving would be near impossible and a bunch of tree limbs would snap.

Not happening. Most of the reliable models have backed off any significant snow or ice.

bullshite. There's too much salinity there.
I remember walking out onto the University lake at the Baton Rouge Beach, though.

Damn. December was so warm I was thinking we were gonna have a mild winter.
Farmers Almanac tried to warn you folks.. January will be a bear.

it kinda makes sense, the lake is brackish, and salt water is denser than fresh water, so by those terms the deeper you are in the lake the saltier it is, so the surface of the lake should be the freshest and have the highest freeze point

Absolutely true. I probably walked 500' out onto the frozen lake.
STUPID in hindsight, but true.

Same here. I have a picture somewhere of me walking out onto University lake with the Exxon plant in the background, billowing black smoke into the sky, from the explosion/fire that happened during that freeze.
