How is your Christmas tree stand still not put away?

Hell, I just took down our tree night before last. The wife picked up all the decorations a couple weeks ago but I’ve been so lazy after work that I just never got around to it so we celebrated MLK day with a bare Christmas tree.

Yikes, my OCD would have exploded my heart by now.
I'd love to live a day without it.

Looks like the light drizzle has stopped in Prairieville. There is a sheet of ice on my boat cover and the work truck here.

Yep, we have a thin coat of ice on most surfaces here but the roads appear to be A-OK.

Yup, think we can put a fork in this “event” going to be cold as hell next 2 nights but no more danger of frozen moisture, time to get to the office

time to get to the office

Been here for about an hour now. Nice and quiet. Told my office staff to stay home today with their kids (as opposed to bringing them all here). Now I can get some real work done.

And why did the LP and AP call off school vs late start, thought that was the new policy, guess it has something to do with it being Friday?

They went virtual so they wouldn't actually lose a day even though I doubt the kids actually do anything. Wife and kids school was one of the only ones in the area that said they were holding normal school. That decision turned out correct.

Negative, AP and LP canceled school all together today, I could understand a late start or virtual day, but both systems completely shut down today

They flipped a coin and lost this time.
No one knows with any certainty what's going to happen in these events. Large school systems usually don't want the publicity and liability if/when something happens. They would rather the Monday morning QBs piss and moan for a few days instead, and for once I don't blame them.

What risk would they of had with a late start? 10:00, if by 8 the roads are bad cancel the whole day

And even less risk and confusion making it a virtual day ?

To give parents time to plan childcare.
I'd rather my employees know they are working from home in advance instead of them waiting until 10am and then they have to take an hour or more to get their kids to school.
Decisions made in advance are far better than waiting until the morning of.
ETA: The virtual day is robbing south La kids of a possible snow day. Some of the most fun we had as kids were the rare South La snow days. I'll vote No on taking that from my daughter. The pure excitement she had last night while talking about it was enough to convince me they need to experience that and not stare at a laptop all day.

How many times have they closed and been right? It’s almost always the close and it’s nothing

Yet y'all expect them to do differently every time, for some reason.
Its part of living in south La.
Making kids stay home for a whole year for some experiment, now that's something to get up in arms about, but nope, most were ok with it.

The LP announced a new policy at the beginning of the year, late start by 2-3 hours for winter days, this would of been the perfect example to excute that policy, why did they choose not too?

Hey, haven’t been out in about, but my baby girl is getting discharged from the NICU today and she’s going to get to come home. How are the roads looking? Figure they’re okay, but I’m such a nervous wreck, lol.

Congrats on the discharge, no reported road closures , should be easy driving with so many people working from home and schools closed/virtual, keep the baby warm

My kids' LP schools have been getting hit hard by Covid. Between kids who are sick, exposed, and/or quarantined, they've been running very low attendance all week. High school cancelled a basketball game because they didn't have enough players available. That kind of thing. I'd imagine with it being a holiday week and a Friday there wasn't too much thought given to anything except a snow day.

And that makes some sense, not that I agree with the COVId protocol, but does make some logic to this
