Snapchat has nothing to worry about.
It has the filter to show how fast you're going. Most people use this in the passenger seat or on a plane/helicopter.
But it does have a warning that says
"Don't snap while driving"
People don't listen, but snapchat should be in the clear on this one.
Also, you don't get points for your speed. Snapchat gives you a point whenever you send/receive a snap. No one really pays attention to the points and I never understood the feature, but it is what it is.

The fact the she took a picture of herself for her snapchat after all this happened really pisses me off. More than it should.
The doctors can fix her injuries, but you can't fix stupid.

McGee wanted to post an image of herself going fast, so she "pushed the speed of her Mercedes to above 80 miles per hour. McGee then pushed the speed of her Mercedes to above 90 miles per hour. And McGee continued to push the speed of her Mercedes to above 100 miles per hour," according to the lawsuit, filed by attorney Michael Lawson Neff.
An app shouldn't be responsible for a person speeding. Regardless what it logs or awards. That's silly.
How stupid can you be. That's at your own risk. Perhaps snapchat has a disclaimer or something.. even though they still shouldn't be responsible for personal recklessness.

Damn. Talk about casting a wide net. May as well sue Apple too.

Distracted driving is distracted driving...period.

I don't see how Snapchat's lawyers and executives didn't see this coming with a feature like this. Pretty dumb to open themselves up to this potential in the first place.
If this actually exists they are gonna pay.

Lawyers for a man with permanent brain damage are suing a driver and Snapchat after they say the speed tracker on the social media platform caused the car crash that injured him.

Also known as an speedometer? Am I too late with that observation?

You've got to be kidding me with that selfie. You got into a wreck and destroyed someone's brain attention whoring, then you double down on your attention whoring while in the fricking ambulance for your own injuries...
If there was any kind of a just god this bitch would have been the one with the brain damage. What a c-word. But she won't be ostracized, ridiculed, or punished as severe as someone given a DUI for a .08 BAC.

also like blaming the gun and not the shooter
Not even close. It is like blaming a factory for making the gun that a shooter uses

The smartphone should have used the accelerometer to check how fast the person was going and disable all features when its senses a user is driving.
