My Grandfather, born in 1903, used to smoke cigars and a pipe. When his cigar got too short, he would stick it in his pipe and smoke the rest of it.
Living through the great depression as a young adult with a family does things to you!
On a side note, when he was in his mid eighties and starting to have some memory issues, we would have to remind PawPaw that he was done with his cigar. The smell of burning flesh would tip off most mortal humans, but not my PawPaw!

It only smells like a-hole if you don't give a shite or smoke a frick ton. I only smoke in windy open areas and keep a small bottle of hand sanitizer and listerine strips with my pack along with a toothbrush in my car. It helps that I only smoke a pack every few days though and always wash my hands and face at first opportunity after smoking.

only trash smokes....
cigarettes that is.
There is a strong correlation between intelligence and cigarette smoking..... which side are you on?
PS - I can understand 45+ year olds who smoke, they were probably addicted before all of the knowledge came out.
Young kids and young adults who smoke? pure trash. or should I say poor trash?

What is the allure of smoking?
I do see the allure of smoking the occasional cigar with a nice glass of bourbon. Everything else? No.

I understand the allure of drinking in moderation - you get a good buzz. But what feeling does smoking provide? If I wanted to start with high quality cigars, what can I expect aside from smoke-filled lungs, cancer, and higher health insurance costs?
You could offset the amount of alcohol needed to get a solid buzz with a strong cigar if you don't smoke all the time. You could get a decently strong cigar for $10.
I doubt you get cancer from one cigar every now and then.

same thing could be said about pot and how it has evolved into dabs / shatter / etc.
I love the new THC stuff, but there is no equal to the feeling of smoking a classic joint on a patio, with a cold beer, listening to music, on a nice spring or fall day.
Its just the best.

There is not a mountain of studies on the effects of pipe smoking like there is for cigarettes, but what studies there are seem to indicate that pipe smokers actually live longer than nonsmokers. The risk of lung cancer is negligible since you don't inhale pipe smoke, and the simple act of smoking a pipe forces you to slow down due to its inherent fiddliness. It's a natural destressor.

You inhale air - is that smoking?
You are just trying to be difficult.
But when you inhale air, is the air heated up from anywhere 300F-420F, before you inhale it? I vape and it still irritates my throat, it still does effect you, but probably not as bad as combustion. Plus you ever see that 'oil' or whatever it is called build up in a vaporizer?
Eating weed is the real way to go, or perhaps a tincture if not both.

quote:Sounds like you would LOVE weed. So many different nugs with all different types of flavors and it all tastes way better than tobacco, no doubt. Legality aside, if you gonna smoke something, minus whale be the nugs.
As someone who hasn't smoked in 7 months, good or bad tobacco, I can tell you there is nothing like the second pull of a perfectly rolled cigarette with golden tobacco.
It's like a deep lungful of crisp air on a fall morning. It's akin to the same lungful of sickeningly sweet humid air the second you step off the plane in southeast Asia.
There's a centering to it. It's meditative. It's medicinal. It's a fresh cold brewed cup of coffee that has been slowly warmed. It's the smell of bourbon. It's a bbq smell caught on the wind.

You aren't supposed to inhale it. I know some do anyway, but in that case it's probably far worse for you than cigarettes, since the smoke is much harsher. Cigars are the same.

I bet you shave with essential oils and a sharpened stick.

Cancer, no. My bet is on emphysema.
You would think by 2017 people would know better than to inhale fine particulate matter.

This sounds appealing and cool.
What would be a good cigarette for a beginner?

Maybe this will ease the guilt when they are taking your larynx out in a few years.

In 1970 I was around 15 years old, and knew that smoking was bad for you. If at that time someone had told me people would still be smoking in 2017 I would have thought they were just out of touch with reality. Guess it is true, you will never lose from overestimating the stupidity of your fellow man.
