Taken to its logical conclusion in light of health concerns, the government should be restricting the intake or sale of any substance that may cause harm - whether that be alcohol, drugs, or cheeseburgers. Or maybe, in its great concern for the body politic, it should ban motorcycles, rock climbing, or any potentially dangerous activity that is a threat to a citizen's good health.
Let's take it a step further. We already know there is a push for laws against cyber bullying because that affects the mental health of people. Who's to say political discourse isn't bullying? Who's to say supporting or opposing a certain political figure doesn't affect the mental health of others?

There’s enough checks and balances where I think we’re ok.
Because there were enough checks and balances then smoking in bars wouldn't actually be an issue would it?

You guys are probably right, but I’m still coming out the winner over the dirty, smelly smokers these days soooo...
Ok you guys win the thread. I win IRL. :)

Caterpillar, were people still smoking in the "outdoor classroom" when you were in school? Was the "outdoor classroom" even a thing by then?

I can't imagine what my dad's lungs look like after 50 years of smoking Marlboro reds at a clip of close to 2 packs a day
Recently I've noticed his wheeze and coughing has increased and it's fricking disgusting. His near future doesn't sound good

I don’t even believe that. I was just pulling shite out of my arse because I knew I was on the losing side of the argument. They’re right.
I actually agree with them.

Nope. I’m 30.
But I know what you’re talking about. We would drive off campus at lunch to smoke sometimes.

You guys had lunch privileges?
What the frick. We had those for like the two weeks of school during AP Exams and finals, but nothing else.
Did they just knock down the trees and everything for more expansion or what? I haven't been back since the day I graduated.

Good thing I only smoke cigars. Speaking of which, I prime up my cigars by Bill Clinton'ing your girl with it. Thread sucks, by the way.

They used this exact same experiment at our high school to show us why we shouldn’t smoke. They had this bubble thing that the guy would squeeze to inhale the cigarettes. During the demo, a classmate stole cigarettes from the pack on the counter behind the guy’s back and smoked them after school
This legit made me laugh out loud

I think it’s a fair compromise. You shouldn’t drive drunk because it’s hazardous. No one is saying you can’t drink. I’m not against smoking, just don’t affect me.
Huge difference. Drunk driver could kill you unexpectedly utilizing a public road at any moment.
Business owners should have the right to chose whether they want to allow smoking or not. Then YOU have the choice to go into their establishment or not. I’m fine if the government wants to ban it in all public buildings, fine. But YOU making a decision to eat at a restaurant or not based on their smoking policy is nothing like drunk driving. You must be a liberal with a conclusion like this without thinking it through properly.

Well I know and I said I agree with you guys. I was arguing just because.

I’m at 2 packs a day, and been for a while now. No plans of quitting anytime soon. It builds character. What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger, right?

No lunch privileges. We’d park down the street and just leave
