What is your DED? Monthly Premium?

Anyone opt for the ACA over an open market plan?

Not an owner but I work for a very small firm and we don't have insurance.

Went ACA - for me, my wife, and daughter its a little over a thousand a month.

$25/copay
$2,400 out of pocket/person $4800 for the family

ETA: Since age matters for insurance costs, mid/late 20's with sub 1 year old.

Yeah its a little ridiculous.

If it was just me and my wife, I would have gone with a higher deductible/lower premium plan, but I didn't want to take any chances with my daughters health.

We need to get you out of this and into a better open-market plan. You're young and losing a ton of money.

Yes but honestly not soliciting. What I want is a big thread of advice. I see way too many young people today using healthcare insurance improperly.

Sounds about right. These premiums have to just absolutely murder family budgeting every month.

It can. And under an ACA plan, without subsidy, you pay a lot without gaining as much coverage as you would expect. On an HMO network no less.

Small business, less than 50 employees.
Company pays for my medical/dental.
I pay for my kids medical @ 270/mo.

$30co/$500 ded and I think it's $2000 max out of pocket.

Make sure to always opt for a supplemental income protector/accident policy. One of the cheapest forms of insurance and can supplement DED and OOP in the event of an accident. Get one that's on and off job. Aflac is NOT the best go to. Look at Colonial Life.

Own a small business with less than 10 employees. My wife and I had a plan through Blue Cross that went from $400/month pre-Obama to $1200/month last year. They were going to raise those rates to $1700/month this year, but I went and got a corporate job with benefits instead.

Obamacare really crushes the middle class.

ACA actually cripples small businesses.

Those days are over, though. The guidance I've gotten is no one on the ACA now or anyone considering an off-market plan will have to substantiate coverage on 2017 tax returns. There is a click and answer that you had qualifying coverage but there isn't going to be any subsequent follow-up, audit or anything related to proof. This is not in writing, mind you.

In other words, small businesses (and individuals) who feel they have to stay with ACA for themselves or feel there aren't options on the open market shouldn't worry anymore.

Sao, I'm on a group policy at work but the business doesn't actually pay any of my premium. I am 26, single, no kids, no health issues, I have a PPO with Blue Cross, pay $300 a month with a $2,500 deductible. I hate it and think it's ridiculous, but I have been told I probably can't do any better than that and stay with a reputable provider.
