3 people shot in Ellick Sunday,Nov,30.Getting to be a regular occurrence here, like weekly.
Glad I retired from ICU nursing. When I was working probably averaged 1 gunshot a year. They tended to be a lot of work,None of them ever had insurance.
Then the women usually freaked out, were convinced someone was going to come in to finish them off or to exact revenge.

My bride works at one of the local hospitals in Ellic. Anytime they bring in a gun shot wound the hospital goes on lockdown for this reason

The third suspect in the Uber shooting, Dennis Scott, 18, was recently taken into custody. LINK

This most recent "Clyde Fant" shooting is reported to have really been on an Anderson Island street (Oden) where it hits the service road alongside Clyde Fant. In any event, not good at all. Right by Magnolia Charter School and along a major thoroughfare.

Mrs. Iwy is a nurse at LSU Shreveport in one of the intensive care units. I don't think they have to do that. The dang hospital would be on lockdown half the time if they did. I doubt any Trauma 1 hospital is allowed to do that as regular protocol.

Two weeks into the job she was like one thing you're never getting is a motorcycle. Already got that out of my system in my 20's so I have no desire for any more but apparently they get motorcycle crashes non stop too.

All I know is she is in leadership and she got a call Sunday night that there were 2 victims at one hospital had one at the other and they were both on lockdown. Not the first time either, so I dunno

No I wasn't saying her hospital didn't do that, I was just saying I don't think LSUS does that.

Gotcha, in fairness I’ve never asked what their definition of lockdown is. Probably cops at all the entrances/exits. Guess I should ask lol

The emergency room is like the bar scene from Star Wars.

My wife also works there in an administrative position, so our insurance is through the state. The only catch is, if you have to go to the emergency room with the state insurance, that's the one you have to go to. If they admit you, it's no cost. Well, my son had appendicitis, so off we go. There were people "falling" out of wheel chairs for attention or to speed up their service, people begging for pain meds, tons of body odor, and a domestic dispute knifing came in while we were there. Total shite show.

Nonetheless, my son got admitted and transferred by ambulance to the old Schumpert which is a children's wing. 2 nights stay and an apendectomy. We never got the first bill. So, thank you tax payers of Louisiana.

As to Shreveport, I always defend it in these threads. Shreveport is great. Lots to do. I love it. I came from a small town in CENLA with nothing but pine trees and a walmart.

While someone may randomly catch a stray bullet from a rolling shoot out, most of it is isolated to certain parts of town where unless you are trying to buy crack at 3 am, you're still relatively safe. Hell, I dropped my daughter off a Byrd High School this morning, jumped on the interstate back down to Hollywood and cut down Hearne to the Shoppers Value at 7:45 this morning for biscuits and gravy. My friend is the manager there and even though it's in a 'bad" area he runs a tight ship and that place is clean. I wouldn't go there after dark, but that goes back to not putting yourself in the wrong place at the wrong time.

I've lived here since the 90's. You learn to live with it.

Yea the ER there is a wild wild place But if something bad happens to you, that's where you want to be. Do not take me to Willis Knighton or Schumpert or wherever if I am dying. Take me to LSU, they know how to handle the bad stuff. But a regular hospital visit

Yea I've been in Bossier my whole life and Shreveport is not nearly as bad as Tigerdroppings makes it out to be. It's mostly BR and NO residents trying to make themselves feel better about their crime. Hell Monroe is worse than Shreveport. Yes there is crime and more violent crime than you'd like but it's a big(ish) city in the south with, how do you say, diverse, population. Of course there's going to be crime. But like you say, it's very pretty easy to stay away from it.

Was the starting spot for the drag racing down Clyde Fant back in the day too.

We went out toward Doyline for that. Didnt race in the city.

Clyde Fant was just one of several stopping points on the cruising route. Did see a guy get shot there one night with a 30-30 though.

Was this last night? As I was pulling out of Ming Gardens 3 cop cars, with lights and sirens wailing, were speeding north past the McDonalds with a 4th turning in the same direction off of Georgia St.

I made another stop at the CVS on Youree before heading back to my hotel. More cop cars, with lights and sirens, heading west on Kings. Shreveport has become Sirenport.
