I guess they put a roundabout as a speed deterrent. No clue, I haven't been back in a long time.

There was a round about at the bottom of thrill hill a few years ago. lasted a couple of months before they realized how dumb it was since they didn't widen the road at all to accomodate the median they put in.

Along with a CFL franchise, Port City also had a CBA team, the Storm, I believe. I remember going to a Storm game and there being a Toadies concert that followed in the Hirsch Coliseum.
Relish the memories of Captains games as a kid and soft serve ice cream in the MLB team mini helmets.

I remember the night in 79 when the big tornado took it out. Had an aunt that lived in the apartments next to it on the bottom floor, top floor was gone

Wow, scary. My Dad and I knew the family who's 2 little girls were killed. It was quite sad.

Not so much anymore...

It lasted about a month or two and after it had been hit multiple times as pictured they pulled it all up. It's still good ol' thrill hill.

I can't believe the old Westwood Executive Par 3 golf course hasn't been mentioned yet. Spent many a good times drinking some high life ponies & playing shatty golf under the lights.

Also if there's any old timers on here, I heard that the old Shreve Square downtown was a blast back in the 70's, especially during the Tech/NWSt State Fair game.

Centenary Oyster House as well.

It was legit through the mid 80's.

The old circuit would be to hit Shreve Square for fun and drinks, then cross the bridge to Cowboys to find a "sure thing."

It was the Crawdads. And they were good then some team in the carolinas had that name and sued. So it changed to Storm.

It was only there for a month or so.. They didnt consult anyone before putting it in and everyone in the area told them it would be a hazard.. A few weeks after it was finished, it was destroyed.. Nice waste of taxpayer money.
