as if I already didn't feel guilty enough about this, I got a BJ from a Jimmy Buffett groupie in the Rockets locker room after the concert back in the '80's

Justin is my next door neighbor. If it wasn't for him moving next to me about 10 years ago, I'd still be a non church attending heathen. What he's done in 7+ years is unreal.

Shreveport has mini churches compared to DFW, although Summer Grove bought a mall to put their church in it's not near as big congregation wise as these monstrosities in the DFW area
I've been there. It's not a mega church. It's basically two movie theaters combined. It's big but it's not a mega church.

o they hold the record for most mega churches for one city?
Looks like Middle Tennessee holds that record. LINK. I tend to think mega churches are sickening, but whatever floats people's boats.
Edit: Looks like I misread that. TX, FL, CA, and GA all have more.

The Simple Church...we usually meet at the Shreveport Convention Center, 5500+ each Sunday. Special services at the Century Link Center the past two weekends.

I am sure he's a good person and not sure if you are kidding about the heathen part. But if your life is better then good for you.

I can almost guarantee that I would not be attending church if it wasn't for what he created. Pretty much breaks down all the barriers/excuses I was using for years to not attend.

pretty much what I said, it has a big facility but not a "mega" congregation

And the only reason it is there is the fact that the mall was on sale for cheap and building a new campus would have been extremely expensive for the church.

I wouldn't be going to Church if it wasn't for Simple Church. I like the laid back attitude and the fact that he admits we're all screwed up. I went to First Baptist Bossier once. Once was enough to show me I wasn't stuck up or preppy enough for that place.

wow, there was some serious debauchery going on in that place, some of the band and crew were doing coke in the shower area, groupies being run through, everyone boozing it up, no wonder it seems like I'm being punished now

I know the story, my Dad was on their building committee, among other things

Not as strange as it being a place I saw Slayer and Megadeth play.
