The car is complete but will never be complete.

If you know, you know.

Does yours have a 2 stroke Detroit? Those are musical.

It does. I have the 6-71 with a turbo and a straight pipe. It really does sing.

Link to it idling

She is one of those "I'll never sell it but I also won't keep it up" kind of people. I really want the 69 Buick Skylark she has, super nice car (it is one of the three I relinquished my ownership on). She has a house full of antiques, but she does not run heat or air. So, the stuff slowly ruins from the hot/cold temperatures. My nephew, her only child, has made it clear to her that all her shite is going in a dumpster when she passes.

Don't know anything about cars. What about running it once a month keeps it in good condition? Thanks

20 years ago or so, she complained about not having an old car. So, Dad bought her a 58 Desoto - not a high dollar car then (or now) but it had very very low original mileage and was a nice original car. She drove it into her outside garage (old 30's style, five car stall but one open side on each one). Car has not moved since. There's shite piled on top of the hood.

I helped rebuild a '69 like that when I was in high school. 427, six pack with a 4 speed. All factory in Daytona blue.

Older cars in that generation have seals/gaskets that are made of natural materials, the oil circulation keeps them pliable unlike modern cards with rubber/silicone type seals. Also, carbureted cards gum up inf not operated, unlike modern fuel injected cars. Also, no offense but his sister soulnds like a true bitch.

Old cars need to be run. You don't have to run them a lot, but if you don't run them, they tend to run down. On that particular Buick, the car weight is an issue. The car is heavy and if it sits in one spot too long, the tube tires develop a flat spot. Dad let it sit for a couple of years, and then drove it. It had a shimmy that would pop up at a certain speed. I said "buy new front tires." But, instead he had about $2000 in front end work (on a car where front end parts are not easy to obtain). Then, he put on new tires on the front and it ran fine.

My current project. Just added a Fit-Tech throttle bottle to the 454. Exhaust and paint are next.

Those 80s suburbans are absolute tanks. Always wanted to get one and make it into some type of SHTF mad max type vehicle. Bulletproof it, lights, gun ports. I just think it’d be cool
