hey guys, i posted on here a while back about this very dull pain under my left collarbone that mimicked chest pains

i went to the dr and they did some tests, EKG, ultrasound, x ray, etc. my heart and vitals were very healthy

the dr diagnosed me with Tietze's syndrome which of course ive never heard of. he told me to lay off the weights for a little while and gave me a high dosage NSAID.

its a slow process, but im curious if anyones ever had this or costochondritis(very similar, but tietze's affects the 1st and 2nd rib cartilage, where costochondritis affects 3rd on down).

it still hurts like hell, affects my sleeping and feels like im going to pass out all the time. its awful.

the question is- has anyone ever had either of these conditions, and if so how they hell did they deal with it?

the pain is awful!!! i wake up in the middle of the night in a panic attack gasping for air because of the pain in my shoulder.

Are you sleeping on it? Like on your side with your arm under the pillow?

Lift through it and quit being a baby. When the zombies come, they won't give you a pass bc you have some nagging pain. They're going to eat you.

you'll probably get alot of bs answers, but I was diagnosed over a decade ago. continued to aggravate the condition for years with exercise. I found a chiropractor that with about 8-10 visits vastly improved the injury. back to hitting they gym after nearly a decade of very little physical activity. I had tried PT, NSAIDs, and cortisone injections and had given up before i found this guy.

I was told Tietze syndrome by a very respected ortho in BR that used to treat LSU athletes and he could only offer cortisone and meds.

Ive had sternal pain for 5 months till I got a cold, and it went away. come to find out mucinex totally relives my pain.
I can take a couple days worth, and relieve pain for weeks. sounds crazy.

A good ortho is the way to go, cortisone will help. Sounds crazy, but dry needling and acupuncture help too.

Just be careful with the heavy dosage nsaid because can cause problems down the line if you stick to it like you will probably want to

I had Costochondritis last year at this time. Suuuuuuucked. Hurt to breathe/move. Coughing made me want to stab myself in the face. Doc gave me a steroid that helped initially, but the pain/inflammation took well over a month to totally disappear.

I had Costochondritis 2 years ago, thought I had broken a rib. Shot of toradol helped a lot. Mine was tied a lot more to anxiety though.

How old are you?

Sounds like you are talking about two different things. The chest pains gave you a panic attack. Now you have a non lethal answer for the pains but it has not satisfied the panic attacks. Anxiety is a mother fricker.

Look into the anxiety aspect. Google relaxation techniques and breathing. Hippy-dippy? Yes. But the shite works. When you are in the middle of one of these episodes I GUARANTEE you are doing one of two things. Hyperventilating or holding your breath. BREATHE!!!! 5 seconds in, 5 second hold, 5 second exhale. There are many variations to breathing exercises. Find one that works for you.

The Tietze's is pretty specific. But all costochondritis sucks. I thought Tietze's had more of a nerve root aspect? NErve pain sucks. Radiates around affected rib. All of which makes you feel like you are gonna die. You did the smart thing. Heart is OK. You aint dying. Motrin, rest, and time (I'd say 3-4 weeks) then EASE back into things. Look at your POSTURE. I bet it sucks. All of our posture sucks. Work on it.

If you continue to wake up with panic and it creeps into anxiety that decreases your quality of life, go see doc again.

Many people here will crap on chiro. I am not one of those people, but I used to be. For the OP I would suggest a place that has massage therapy with the chiro adjustment. I go once a month now and it is great. Costs what a co-pay costs if you are insured. It helps or it doesn't. you will know after 4 or 5 visits. Some chiros are money grubbers. you just have to research and find a good one. If they have massage therapists on staff, then they are legit.

Good feedback. Thanks

That's interesting about the chiropractor. What specific did they do to alleviate the pain?

Yeah I'm worried about the NSAIDs. They haven't done shite for me, except give me stomach aches and make me feel weak

It's funny what someone said about the anxiety after your pain acts up. The doctor said that what happens is patients have a flare up of the pain and it mimics a heart attack and then they have a panic attack thinking they are dying. He said next time that happens, just know that your heart is good and you're not dying, just trying to relax, even though you feel like you're dying. Lol

Ok got it. Relax when you feel like you're gonna pass out and have a heart attack.
