Should you already be OSHA certified before trying to get a job in the industrial industry

A friend and I are hoping to get a job in the industrial industry within the next few months. While Im recovering from from a surgery I need to get, I figured ill work on getting OSHA certified. Well, she said its not required to have it at hiring, that you can get in and they will pay for your training. But if your not worried about someone else paying it wouldnt it be smart to be certified before hiring?

Go get your basic OSHA card along with a TWIC. Then get a plant job and they will send you back to whatever safety council for site specific training.

Generally, a lot of the training required is given during orientation.

Any certifications you have will help your chances of getting hired.

If you female, got TWIC and pass drug test you’re practically in. Good luck.

Apparently not.

I'd get my OSHA 30 and TWIC card. TWIC is about $100, I did my OSHA 30 for free through the local fire department. Not sure how much it is if you take it at a safety school. The big one to get is NCCER.
