You will never get the object back.

Yes, gave that and a pic to them to attach to the report. I still have the box and receipt

Just my anecdotal experience, but I don't think cops in general put much if any effort into finding stolen property unless it's something like the Mona Lisa. It's likely just gone and hopefully you had insurance for it.
I think of this scene from the Big Lebowski.

Was it in your unlocked truck? Never leave anything in your truck, ever.

Good luck, I had one of my company trucks stolen and they did nothing, it took 4 days to get a police report filed and they could have cared less, I was obviously being a burden on them. NOPD sucks

My truck was stolen and recovered in New Orleans. When I got it back there was stolen property in it. I called NOPD and told them that there was stuff in there that was not mine. I asked them to come and get the stolen items. NOPD told me to bring it by the district station or keep it. They did not give a damn about it at all. Weed eaters, electronics, tools, stuff like that.

It honestly felt like their mentality was, "Well, it's your fault for getting your stuff stolen. We'll get to it when we get to it".
JPSO didn't want to deal with it either, and told me to go to NOPD

NOPD Property Crimes unit is one of the most effective in the department.
Oh wait - you mean the unit that's supposed to help retrieve stolen items, not the officers who use their badges as a license to "liberate" personal belongings?
Good luck. Call your insurance company and get a new whatever it is that was stolen.

The City of New Orleans needs to loose its charter and be run directly by the State of Louisiana.
